Capturing Calls on Desktop
Follow these steps to record and upload calls using Aila Desktop for Mac.
Recording Workflow
- Open your softphone or video conference application (e.g., Zoom, Teams, FaceTime).
- Start or join your call.
- Click the Aila icon in the macOS menu bar.
- Click Record Call (or press the global shortcut
Command + Shift + R). - The menu bar icon changes to a red recording indicator.
- When the conversation ends, click Stop Recording.
- Aila Desktop automatically compresses the dual-channel audio and uploads it to your organization account.
Audio Channel Verification
- Channel 1 (Agent): Mapped to your selected microphone input device.
- Channel 2 (Contact): Mapped to macOS system audio output.
- Distinct audio channels improve speaker diarization accuracy in transcripts.
Troubleshooting
- Recording Disabled: Open macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security and verify that Microphone and System Audio permissions are enabled.
- Upload Incomplete: Check your internet connection. Unsent audio files remain cached locally in
~/Library/Application Support/Aila/and retry automatically on reconnect.
